27 May 2007What's up?
I figure I should be updating this news section really more often but it's easier said than done :)
I've been really busy mainly servicing computers, teaching, scripting stuff and updating various third party sites (meaning not created by me - thus not listed in this site). I've also recently completed a project for the University of Piraeus. Some other completed projects include the HTML version of Electronic Soundscapes as well as the Elounda Villa site (all graphics from polygon.gr as always!).
In addition, I am currently working on several sites as well as on a code and database framework to be integrated in the next version of an online language tutor which seems to be lots of fun!
And as if all this wasn't enough, I feel that I'm starting to get tired of my site's current design and structure so it's very possible that I'll work on a new layout, content and structure because this is getting outdated. Another thing I am thinking of is start authoring a new piece of software but I won't give any details about that until I have something to show.
As you've probably already understood, my schedule is tight these days. I hope I get some rest in the summer! I also hope this has given me a good enough excuse for not updating the news :)
Happy new year with a little delay...
Because I always like boasting about my originality, here's a new one that will be added to my list. alexcicovic.com is the *ONLY* site wishing happy new year to its readers, 28 whole days after the new year's beginning!!! It's incredible!!!
Truth be told, I wanted to post this within the first days of the year, but I got distracted by several things that were going on simultaneously. I wish you had a good Christmas time like I had and I wish you all the best for the forthcoming year, especially if you are a customer ;)
If you are not a current customer, you can take advantage of this amazing wish by becoming one till the end of the month. After that, the offer expires... sorry, bad luck...
That's all for the moment. See you soon...
Site of the Month!
Electronic Soundscapes was nominated as September's "Link of the Month" from Chaishop, one of the best Trance sites in the world!
15 Jun 2006Electronic Soundscapes Online
Electronic Soundscapes is a music label based in Athens, Greece, owned by Arash Atman who is well known from his involvement in the Samothraki Festival in Greece as well as his performances in countries like Canada, England and Switzerland. Sites using Flash updated
Today, all my sites that use Flash technology have been updated to be compatible with the new Internet Explorer patch. For those who don't know, a new Internet Explorer patch changes the way IE handles Flash and other objects in web pages (it seems that it will also be that way in IE7). The result is that from now on, you have to click on objects (flash, videos etc) before interacting with them (that can really be tedious in sites with many objects), unless they have been coded with this IE issue in mind.
All of this is the outcome of a pattern infringement done by Microsoft. I won't comment on this any further, since it is annoying, ridiculous and disappointing. If you do not do so yet, I would recommend you to use Firefox instead of IE.
08 Apr 2006Happy Birthday, Alex!
Today I have my birthday (I'm turning 25). If you haven't already, run quickly and buy me something, right now! If you do so, I promise I will not be mad at you even if your present arrives some months later than it should...
I am so compassionate, am I not? :)

Discovalley Records is a music label based in Goa, India. The site was designed by Polygon. My tasks in development included:
MagIndexer 1.00 released
MagIndexer is an easy and simple piece of software that allows the user to register magazine issues and associate keywords with each issue. It features flexible search as well as report generation and printing.
This is very useful if you have a large magazine collection that you want to refer to often, or want to have some kind of log for its content. I may expand the software in the future and make it more flexible in order to accept various types of collections, as well as keep track of multiple collections at the same time.
